2000’den sonra doğan nesil olarak yaşadığımız en büyük zorluk aramızdan birkaçı haricinde üretemiyor oluşumuz. Ben hariç herkes daha yetkin gibi. Herkes yeni yüzyılın malumatfuruşu olmuş durumda. Teknolojinin, insanların bir kısmını bu denli bilgili hissettirmesi ve kalanını da olağanüstü bilgisiz hissettirmesi de cabası tabii… YouTube izliyoruz, Instagram’da kaydırıp duruyoruz ve hatta sezon sezon diziler izliyoruz ama bilginin yeterli hissettirmemesinden üretemiyoruz. Öğretmen, doktor vs. olmak isteyen son nesildik adeta. Bizden sonraki nesil YouTuber olmayı düşünen liselilerle dolu. Bilinçsizce bazı şeyleri son yapan nesildik. El yazısını son kullanan, sözlükten ingilizce çalışan ve ödevlerini ChatGPT’ye yaptırmayan son nesildik. Aslında anne babalarımızın nesli gibi bir eğitim olmasa da en azından araştırmaya hakim olarak yetişmiş son nesildik.

Ne var ki kalan tüm enerjimizi ekranlarla harcadıktan sonra zihnimiz tenezzül edip kendini geliştirecek bir şeyler yapmamayı seçen de ilk nesildik. Annelerimiz halihazırda telefonla tanışmaya çalışırken biz hızla adapte olmuş Instagram’da kaydırıp mükemmel sandığımız hayatları, influencerlığı meslek bellemiş birçoğu sahtekar olan fenomenlerle günümüzü gün ediyor hayatımızı para odaklı şekillendirmeye çalışıyoruz. Eğitimi sorana zaten bu nesilde herkes üniversite mezunu diyoruz. Doğru, ama üniversiteyi projelerle bitiremiyoruz. Öylece okuyoruz. Halbuki ilkokulda yapılan okuma bayramına okurken anlayamayanlar dahil edilmiyordu. Henüz 6-7 yaşlarında öğrendiğimiz bu beceriyi zamanla yitirmemizden kaynaklı okuduklarımız faydasızlaştı, zihnimiz bulanıklaştı. Sıkıntımızı gidermek için binbir türlü şey dener olduk. Fütursuzca paralar harcamak, elde edemeyeceğimiz ev/araba ilanlarına bakmak… Bedenimizin sıkılıp bir şeyler üretmesine hiç izin vermedik. Oysa ki sıkılmak lazım, sıkılıp zihnimizi üretime ayırmamız lazım. Az, çok demeden ümmete, millete, ailemize ama hepsinden önce kendimize faydamız olması lazım. Çünkü kendimizi yararlı hissedersek zihin bundan motivasyon bulur.

İşte bizi faydasız yetişkinler haline getirmek için bu kadar uğraşılan dijital çağda yapabilecek, paylaşabilecek elbette bir şey vardır dedim ve Equinox Notes’u kurdum. İsmi de sadece havalı diye seçmedim, yani o da bir sebep ama hayat benim için hep ekinoks gibi hissettiriyor. Başta başıma gelince yeni bir durum olmasından mütevellit duraksıyorum, lakin akabinde bahar geliyor. Tıpkı her şerde hayır olması gibi. Bu yüzden değişen bu mevsime, hayatıma, ve günlerime ortak olabilmeniz için kolları sıvayıp işe koyuldum. Hatam olur, olacaktır.. Biliyor musunuz, hiç önemli değil. Kendinizi ne yaparken dingin hissediyorsanız onu bulun ve yapın, lakin yazmak/yazabiliyor olmak benim için hep en rahatlatıcısı olacak.

Henüz yeni yeni adapte oluyorum, yorum kısmı gibi şeyler eklemedim. Lakin görüşlerinizi e-postama ne zaman isterseniz ulaştırabilirsiniz. Dilerim ki, okuyan kişi oranının git gide azaldığı bu dünyada bana eşlik edip pek de mükemmel olmayan yazılarımı okursunuz.

Get Up From A Consumer Seat: Why Did I Create The Equinox Notes?

As the generation born after 2000, the biggest challenge we face is that, apart from a few of us, we are unable to produce. It feels like everyone else is more competent than me. Everyone has become the know-it-all of the new century. On top of that, technology makes some people feel so knowledgeable while making the rest feel incredibly ignorant…

We watch YouTube, keep scrolling on Instagram, and even watch TV series season after season, but we cannot produce anything because the information we have never feels like enough. We were almost the last generation that wanted to be teachers, doctors, and so on. The generation after us is full of high school students who are thinking about becoming YouTubers.

We were the last generation to do certain things without even realizing it. We were the last generation to use handwriting, study English from a physical dictionary, and do our homework without using ChatGPT. Actually, even if our education wasn’t like our parents’ generation, we were at least the last generation raised with a good grasp of how to do research.

However, after wasting all our remaining energy on screens, we were also the first generation to choose not to bother doing anything for self-improvement. While our mothers were still trying to get used to smartphones, we adapted quickly. We spend our days scrolling on Instagram, looking at lives we think are perfect, and following so-called influencers—many of whom are fake—who have turned this into a profession. As a result, we try to shape our lives entirely around money.

When someone asks about education, we say that everyone in this generation is a university graduate anyway. It’s true, but we don’t graduate with real projects or achievements. We just study and pass. However, back in primary school, kids who couldn’t read and understand properly weren’t even included in the “reading festivals.” Because we gradually lost this basic skill we learned at the age of 6 or 7, everything we read became useless, and our minds became foggy.

We started trying all sorts of things to relieve our boredom: spending money recklessly, looking at ads for houses or cars we can never afford… We never allowed ourselves to actually get bored and produce something. But the truth is, we need to get bored. We need to embrace boredom so we can direct our minds toward creating.

No matter how big or small, we need to be useful to our community, our nation, our family, and above all, to ourselves. Because when we feel useful, our minds find the motivation to keep going.

So, in this digital age that works so hard to turn us into useless adults, I told myself that there must certainly be something I could do and share, and I founded Equinox Notes. I didn’t choose the name just because it sounds cool—well, that is one reason, but life has always felt like an equinox to me. At first, when I face a new situation, I pause because it is unfamiliar, but right after that, spring arrives. Just like finding the good in every bad situation.

That is why I rolled up my sleeves and got to work, so that you can be a part of this changing season, my life, and my days. I might make mistakes, and I probably will… But you know what? It doesn’t matter at all. Find whatever makes you feel calm and do it, but writing—and being able to write—will always be the most relaxing thing for me.
